The History

CALLANETICS exercises were developed by Callan Pinckney.  Born with spinal curvatures, one hip higher than the other, and feet turned inward so severely that she wore leg braces to her waist for seven years of her childhood, Pinckney was looking for exercises that would combat her back and knee problems.  After trying several forms of exercise, all of which made her condition and pain worse, she began to exeriment with different exercise techniques combined with her ballet training.  She discovered that by performing some very small precise movements not only was she alleviated from her pain, but her body looked and felt better than it ever had!

CALLANETICS is now internationally known and has been popular world wide since 1985.  The exercises don't go away, because they work!

Now in Vancouver!

Linda Shedden trained and worked in Marketing for 6 years.  During that period she discovered CALLANETICS and was instantly hooked.  After her first 10 classes at THE EDINBURGH CALLANETICS STUDIO, Scotland, she lost 11 ½ inches from her body.  (From upper arms, waist, stomach, hips, thighs, right through to her knees!).  For the next 3 years, Linda continued going to classes to maintain the tightening and toning of her body.  It was the only exercise regime that she ever enjoyed and kept up.

When Linda moved to Vancouver in February 2006, she was disappointed to find that there were no classes available.  Missing CALLANETICS classes so much, and the affect on her body shape, she decided to train to become a CALLANETICS teacher herself!

Certified in October 2007, Linda is the only Certified CALLANETICS Teacher in BC and one of only two in Canada, (at date of print).  Linda is loving all aspects of teaching CALLANETICS and is enjoying the challenge of raising awareness of CALLANETICS in Vancouver.
